KEUM BOO LEAF
This pendant is made using an ancient Korean gilding technique called, Keum Boo. Which translates as "attached gold"
The process causes an exchange of atoms between the gold and the silver. This creates a permanent bond between the two metals. hundreds of times thicker than gold plating.
The silver is heated 10-15 times and cleaned to remove the copper content, leaving a layer of fine silver. The 23.5ct gold foil (No, I don't know why it's not 24ct either!) is then applied under heat and pressure.
On this piece I've oxidised the silver which makes the gold stand out more.
All my jewellery i s solid silver and I am registered at the Birmingham Assay 0ffice.
